A Tribute to Saskachewan

At some point last year, when I was planning what Yummy Yarn Studio would do next, the fabulous Ms. K and I figured what could be better than a tribute to Canada.  As a country we have 10 provinces and 13 territories, perfect for 1 pair of socks each month and a bonus.

The first sock was inspired by wheat and what better province than Saskatchewan to host the grain that means so much to the prairies that I love.  So off I went, researching inspiration and this is what I came up with….

Big skies and fields of waving grain..

And this is what became of that inspiration…

A simple toe up pattern to start off a great year.  You’ll find more information about the club here.  What is different about this club is that it is pattern only.  My thought was that sometimes we love the pattern but aren’t always thrilled with the yarn supplied so this makes the yarn an option rather than an obligation.  With each pattern release, there is an optional yarn order opportunity.

As I progress through each pattern, I will also include a story of how each was inspired.  I see it as a way to get to know Canada (a place I have lived all my life) in a totally new way.  You’ll be surprised how some of the ideas were inspired. I’ll give you a hint… A Canadian Comedic author inspired New Brunswick….

I’ll be sharing each release throughout the year and look forward to your comments.

Happy Knitting…
