Since the New Year

I have been pretty much taking time away from things I have to do to do things I want to do.  The past couple of months have been a welcome reprieve for this knitter but the creative juices are now flowing!

The past 2 weeks have been filled with pattern writing for the 2013 Shawl, Sock and Canadian Sock Clubs.  Jody has been under siege with test knitting and editing.  From my side of the computer, it’s a good thing.

I also continue to feed the creative dye process.  Late December I started playing with colour wash variations.

My first inclination as always is to knit up socks but I think there may be a shawlette hidden in this pile of colour.

Early this month was also an opportunity to make good on a promised pair of mitts for my Brother-in-law T.  What pair of mitts isn’t begging for a matching hat right?  Houndstooth is everywhere this season so I took a chance a whipped together a double knit set that is ready for any Manitoba winter challenge.

The pattern is available here and here and I would love to see some “out there” colour combinations – yes that is a challenge.

The last of my personal time was knitting up the Bandana Cowl by Purl Soho.  For the first I used some handspun that I purchased from Marijane Rose of Turner Valley.  The second is some Sport Weight Merino that I had hanging around in the colourway Mature Romance.  Love the colour – not a fan of the yarn base but having said that, I am spoiled!

So that about says it for the first 2 weeks of the year.  I did manage to finish all of my 2012 projects and now have some 2013 inspiration.  More to come soon I hope.
